Journalist visit to the 19th African Union Summit- Lilongwe, Malawi, June 2012
The 19th African Union Summit will take place from 23rd - 30th June 2012 in Lilongwe, Malawi with the theme of ‘Boosting Intra-Africa Trade’ and ‘2012 year of Shared Values’. Fahamu- Networks for Social Justice (www.fahamu.org) through its Emerging Powers in Africa Initiative is pleased to announce a call for applications for its journalist visit to the Summit. Five successful applicants will be chosen to participate in a 4 day visit during the Summit. Media professionals in print, broadcast, radio and online fora from Africa, India, China and Brazil are encouraged to apply before the deadline of 30 March 2012. Download [PDF]
Support rural women farmers: Help raise $4,000 for the We Are The Solution Campaign
The 'We Are The Solution' project will provide the Rural Women's organisations in Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Guinea with learning and support to enable them to lead on a campaign to promote the benefits of traditional family farming and how these methods can combat the issues of hunger and loss of biodiversity as well as ensuring that local people retain control over food security of their communities and countries. The project will also focus on the women's learning on womens rights and feminism.

Fahamu’s advocacy work aims to support human rights and social justice movements by promoting the innovative use of information and communications technologies and by stimulating debate, discussion and analysis.
Fahamu courses
As part of its mission to build the capacity of African human rights and social justice movements, Fahamu develops training materials and runs courses, including by distance learning.
Fahamu provides training to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in Africa to promote and protect human rights and to help them become sustainable and effective organisations.
